Sometimes we know we need help, but we don’t know what kind.
Finding mental health support can be difficult. You might not know where to begin, whom to approach, or what kind of support would be right for you.
At Agatsu, we help you explore your options, find relevant resources and work out what you might want to do next. You don’t need to have everything figured out before reaching out.
1. Register for a Guide session
Share as much or as little as you’re comfortable with about what you’re looking for support with. The more you share, the better prepared our Guide can be for your session - but no pressure.
2. Meet with a Guide
Have a one-time, 50-minute conversation to discuss your concerns and explore your options.
3. Explore your next steps
This may involve external referrals to professional services or community spaces, therapy at Agatsu, or any other resources that might be helpful. We’ll figure it out together!
Guides
One conversation to help you work out what comes next.
A Guide session is a one-time conversation where you can receive emotional support, understand your options, find relevant resources, and explore what you would like to do next.
A Guide may be a psychologist, another mental health clinician, or a trained lay counsellor. Guides are trained in basic mental health support and are familiar with navigating the mental health care system. Your Guide will not necessarily direct you towards any particular choice or service, including services offered by Agatsu. The aim is to help you understand your options so you can decide what feels right for you.
What can a Guide help you with?
- Understanding different types of mental health and medical care, including understanding a diagnosis and the treatment or support options available for you or a loved one.
- Exploring ways to support a friend or family member through their mental health concerns, treatment or recovery.
- Finding information about caregivers’ support and resources for your own wellbeing while caring for someone else.
- Finding information about relevant legal rights and protections.
- Exploring how to access therapists, psychiatrists, medical services and crisis support.
- Identifying relevant NGOs, shelters, financial assistance programmes and other community resources.
- Talking through your concerns in a non-judgmental space and exploring possible next steps.
What we don’t offer:
- Financial aid or direct monetary assistance
- Psychiatric consultations or ongoing medical care.
- Medical treatment, diagnosis, or prescriptions for medicines.

Guide sessions are not therapy, diagnosis, treatment, ongoing counselling, or crisis support.
Everyone begins with a Guide session. It is an opportunity to explore your current needs and possible next steps. If our therapy programme may be suitable for your concerns, therapy at Agatsu may be one of the options discussed, depending on your needs.
Before you register
- Agatsu’s services are primarily for people aged 18 and above. Parents, caregivers, friends or family members aged 18 and above can also register for a Guide session to explore support options for someone else, including someone under 18.
- All sessions take place in person at our clinic in Bandra, Mumbai. We do not offer online sessions or services at other locations.
- We currently have a significant waitlist. The estimated waiting period is approximately 30–50 days and may change depending on demand and availability.
- We cannot expedite appointments or offer urgent bookings. The same waiting process applies to everyone.
Therapy at Agatsu
We no longer offer direct registrations for therapy. During your Guide session, if therapy at Agatsu seems like a suitable option for your needs, your Guide will explain this to you and discuss the next steps. This will depend on your needs and requirements.
Referrals
At Agatsu, we believe in access to appropriate care. This means if we think you will be better served elsewhere, we will provide you with a referral.
Our aim is to help you understand the options available so you can decide what works for you. External providers determine their own fees, suitability and availability. We will try our best to match your needs and fees while making these referrals.
Waitlist and appointments
All sessions at Agatsu are by appointment only. Due to high demand and limited capacity, the current estimated waiting period is approximately 30–50 days. Waiting times may change, and we cannot guarantee a specific appointment date.
We are unable to expedite appointments or offer urgent bookings. Everyone follows the same registration and waiting process, regardless of the fee they choose to pay or whether they have previously accessed services at Agatsu.
Our team will contact you regarding availability and next steps. Please note that submitting a registration form does not confirm an appointment but we’ll be in touch shortly.
Crisis support
Need urgent support?
Agatsu is not a crisis helpline or emergency service. Guide sessions are not intended for immediate crisis support, and our appointment waitlist may mean we cannot respond quickly.
If you or someone else needs urgent help, please contact an appropriate crisis helpline or local emergency service rather than waiting for an Agatsu appointment.
We strongly encourage you to reach out to one of the helplines listed below. If a call does not connect on the first attempt, please try calling 2–3 times or try calling another helpline, as helpline lines can sometimes be busy:

About Agatsu Guides
What is a Guide session?
A Guide session is a one-time, 50-minute conversation where you can receive emotional support, understand your options, find relevant resources and explore what you would like to do next. Guides can help you navigate mental health services and related medical, social and community support systems.
Who can come for a Guide session?
Anyone aged 18 or above who is looking for support, information or help navigating mental health services can register. You don’t need to have a diagnosis or know exactly what kind of support you need. You can also come to discuss concerns about a family member, friend or someone you care about, and explore how you might support them or where they could find help. You may bring them along if they are comfortable attending. We will respect their privacy and choices.
Can parents or family members of someone under 18 come for a Guide session?
Yes. Parents, caregivers or other concerned individuals can attend a Guide session to understand their options, explore how to support someone under 18, and find relevant referrals or resources. However, Agatsu’s services are for people aged 18 and above; we do not provide therapy or individual Guide sessions to anyone under 18.
Can I bring someone along to my session?
Yes! You can bring someone along to help share information about you during your session, if you’d like. If you prefer to attend the session on your own, the person accompanying you can wait in our community centre or library while you’re in your session.
You can also attend a Guide session to share information about or seek support for someone else, such as a friend or family member. You’re welcome to bring them along too, if they wish to attend.
What can I ask or talk about during a Guide session?
You can bring up anything you would like support in understanding or navigating. This could include your own concerns, worries about someone you care about, questions about mental health, finding a therapist or psychiatrist, accessing medical care, understanding available resources or figuring out what to do next. You do not need to prepare anything specific.
Who is a Guide?
A Guide may be a psychologist, another mental health clinician, or a trained lay counsellor. Guides are trained in basic mental health support and are familiar with navigating the mental health care system. They can help you understand your needs, make sense of your concerns and explore suitable support options, including psychologists, psychiatrists, support groups, community spaces, and other relevant resources.
Can a Guide tell me what I should do?
A Guide can help you explore options, understand available resources and think through possible next steps. They will not make decisions for you or coerce you towards a particular choice or service.
Are Guide sessions therapy or counselling?
No. Guide sessions are not therapy, ongoing counselling, diagnosis or medical treatment. They are intended to help you understand your options and navigate available support.
Can I register directly for therapy?
No. Everyone begins with a Guide session. A Guide session helps you explore your current needs and possible next steps, but it does not guarantee therapy sessions at Agatsu. Therapy at Agatsu may be offered if it is considered a suitable option for your needs, based on the discussion during your Guide session and slot availability.
Do you offer online sessions or services outside Mumbai?
No. Guide and therapy sessions are offered in person at our clinic in Bandra, Mumbai. We do not offer online sessions or services at other locations.
Do you have a psychiatrist at Agatsu? Can you prescribe medication?
No. Agatsu does not have a psychiatrist and does not prescribe medication or provide psychiatric treatment. If you are looking for psychiatric consultation or medication-related care, a Guide can help you explore external providers and relevant resources. You can also check our mental health resource sheet which has information of psychiatrists you can contact.
Do you offer financial assistance or monetary help?
No. Agatsu does not provide financial assistance, monetary aid or funds for medical care, treatment or other expenses. A Guide may be able to help you identify relevant organisations or resources that you can approach independently.
Fees, Registration and Waiting Times
How much does a session cost?
Guide or therapy sessions have a sliding-scale fee of ₹50–₹750. You choose the amount you pay within this range. The amount you choose does not have any impact on your intake in any manner.
When do I make the payment for a session?
Once a slot is available, our team will contact you. After you choose a slot that works for you, we will share a UPI ID or QR code for payment.
Payment must be made in advance to confirm your appointment. Please make the payment as soon as possible after receiving the booking details and share a screenshot of the payment or the transaction ID with us. Your appointment is confirmed only after we receive your payment.
How do I cancel a session?
If you need to cancel a session, please inform us at least 24 hours before your scheduled appointment.
- Cancellations made at least 24 hours in advance: The session fee will be carried forward, and the session can be rescheduled at no extra cost.
- Late cancellations or no-shows: If you cancel less than 24 hours before your session or do not attend without informing us, the session fee will not be refunded or carried forward.
- Missing two consecutive sessions without prior notice: Your regular slot will be cancelled. You may register again if you wish to continue at a later time.
- Three consecutive informed cancellations: Your slot will be cancelled, and the advance fee will not be refunded.
Does the amount I pay affect the support I receive?
No. Everyone receives the same Guide service, regardless of the fee they choose to pay. Your fee does not affect your place in the queue, the support offered or your eligibility for therapy.
How long will I have to wait for an appointment?
We currently have a high volume of registrations and a significant waitlist. Waiting times may vary depending on appointment availability (around 30-50 days). Our team will contact you about availability and next steps.
Can my appointment or place on the waitlist be prioritised?
No. We cannot expedite appointments or move people ahead in the queue. The same waiting process applies to everyone, regardless of the fee paid, personal circumstances or previous contact with Agatsu. We are unable to offer urgent or emergency appointments.
Urgent Support, Feedback and Complaints
What if I need urgent or emergency mental health support?
Agatsu is not a crisis helpline or emergency service, and our waiting list means we may not be able to respond immediately. If you need urgent support, please contact an appropriate crisis helpline or local emergency service. You can also consult our mental health resource sheet for other support options. Please do not wait for an Agatsu appointment if you need immediate help.
How can I make a complaint about my Guides or therapy session?
If you have a concern or complaint about your experience with Agatsu Therapy Clinic, you can submit it through our complaint form.
